The New Midwest Lindyfest & The Amateur Lindy Hop Showdown
May 1st - 3rd, 2009
Minneapolis, MN
Registration will open January 26th
The Midwest LindyFest is back and better than ever! MWLF is a Minneapolis tradition and we are excited to bring it back for 2009! With exciting classes and renowned instructors, MWLF is sure to inspire dancers of all ability levels. Instructors include Stefan and Bethany, Mike and Casey , Adam Boehmer and Twin Cities’ very own Niki Amundson. Musical guests include Davina and The Vagabonds and the SouthSide Aces.
The Amateur Lindy Hop Showdown has proven to be the best opportunity for Amateur dancers to compete on a national level, and it returns to Minneapolis with great enthusiasm. This year we will have contests in Strictly Lindy, Slow Lindy and Jack N’ Jill. We are giving away over $600 and passes to next year’s ULHS, MWLF and the Hawkeye Swing Festival!
This year the MWLF will offer A Special Performance featuring MWLF instructors as well as local and regional talent. It will kick off the weekend before the Friday night dance and it will most certainly excite and entice. We look forward to seeing you all this May as the Midwest Lindyfest and The Amateur Lindy Hop Showdown return to Minneapolis. Be there or be square!

It's finally here. We know all of you have been waiting patiently. No I'm not talking about the Minnesota Senate race recount, Midwest LindyFest Classes have been selected! We grilled the instructors for their tightly held secrets. We wanted them to teach their most amazing moves. We used approved methods to uncover styles and techniques that are not found anywhere else in the country.
Okay so the classes will be cool right?
Read some of the titles below and see for yourself.
Robert Bell (SouthSide Aces, Twin Cities Hot Club, Hot Swing Combo) will join with Stefan and Bethany to teach to Live music. This was a huge success last year for students to interact with musicians with out a cage environment. Having the chance to experience music theory at the same time as dancing is way different than explaining it. This should prove to be the stimulus package for your musicality.
Patrick Harison (Loose Marbles, Patty and the Buttons) has returned this year to accompany Mike and Casey in a musicality class right after Stefan and Bethany's. That's right you don't have to figure out which live music class to pick from they are after each other on Saturday. Mike's and Casey's classes are a rare treat but that should not limit your consumption of them. Peanut butter tastes good but music is what really makes dancers stick together.
Midwest Lindy Fest 2009 has packed in 18 classes! In no particular order, the classes are:
1. What's Fair in Following.............................. Stefan and Bethany
2. Dancing to that musician in the room......... Stefan and Bethany & Robert Bell
