Hey, computery-people...
What's wrong with my laptop screen? There's a bright spot on the screen, shaped like a line about a sixth of an inch long, with slightly bright area above it (brighter than the rest of the screen, but no where near as bright as the line). I don't think it meets the definition of stuck pixels, since it doesn't stay white on a black background -- it dims to the same amount of brighter-than-everything-around-it it was on the white screen.
I've never heard of that particularly-- not that I would have. I did a little bit of googling, but the most interesting thing I came up with was www2.hp.com/PDF/5981-6351EN.pdf]Understanding Pixel Defects in TFT-LCD Flat-Panel Monitors[/url]. A sixth of an inch seems like a pretty weird length for the sort of failed row driver or connection defects they mention in connection with bright lines. Who knows, though. Aaaand... that link is pretty broken. It should lead here:

The most coherent advice I can offer is that whatever does turn out to be wrong with it, I would suppose that it's not something you can really fix. Laptop monitors are the sort of thing where you either complain to the manufacturer about if it's still under warranty, or grin and bear it till you replace the whole thing.
