Hey for everyone who is going to be in town for new years ( like me ), you might want to check out First Night Salt Lake. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, including a lot of New Orleans jazz and funk goodness. So yeah. Dancing opportunities there at the Gallivan center. Outside though, so be sure to bundle up. [Emoticon not found]

    A snippet from the website.

    First Night Salt Lake:

First Night Salt Lake presents an evening of Lousiana roots music and New Orleans funk with the All-Star Voodoo Revue featuring the incomparable Papa Mali, the "pride of New Orleans" Henry Butler, and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.

Don't miss the chance to join the First Night Second Line-a New Orleans tradition, and a first for Salt Lake. We'll be hitting the streets, marching to the beats, dancing like crazy, and ringing in the New Year. Not sure how? We've got New Orleans' own Hot 8 Brass Band to show you how to groove.

But that's not all, we've prepared a spicy gumbo of performances to round out the evening: a circus of fire performers, break-dancers, hypnotists, folk dancers, and much more. There are surprises around
    every corner!

they're featured on spike lee's hurricane katrina documentary (which is amazing, btw). michelle & i liked them so much that we thought they might make a good ulx band, so she called them and asked them how much they charge to play an event.

I'm up for getting some dinner- i'm already going to be in SLC as I work downtown now, but I don't get off until 6:30. If people aren't going to be eating before then, I'm up for joining you guys.

I'm down for all that as well!

Shoot, Thomas. I might need you to dig up my white and red adidas with leather soles (they're old) from my room (since we don't know about the floor situation)! Uh oh, I'll send you a text since you'll be leaving early in the morning tomorrow...

oh yeah, and we're talking about going to dinner around 7 or so. kristen and erik are going to find a cheap non-asian restaurant somewhere downtown.

Seems like some people had super powers!!

Scott had the "star power" super power:

Some person I don't know had some kind of energy field:

And of course Kristen had the deadly hair super power:

(Apparently flickr doesn't like people linking images and not going to their site?)
