I've heard this event is disproportionately numerous with leads.

Actually, it's balancing out quite nicely so far. There's something about all these leads attending and getting better that entices the follows to register even from Seattle to Iowa. I would encourage registering, so you can enjoy this delightfully well-proportioned event. [Emoticon not found]

grant: did you see they're teaching al & leon's shim sham?

  5.

Mikey's really looking forward to teaching that class. He also wants to encourage the guys to wear sports coats. I'm not sure what he has in mind, but it should be fun.

  6.

This is a friendly encouragement to register soon and to book your flights. Airfares are fairly inexpensive at the moment (check out Frontier, Southwest and http://www.kayak.com). Also, I want to let the leads know that follow registration is going quite nicely. We have had follows register from Seattle, Iowa, Washington DC, and Colorado. They're quite excited about their own solo workshops, but most excited about dancing with the incoming leads.

Leads- I think this weekend will be great for several reasons. Namely, leads receive the opportunity to learn several genres of solo dancing, apply more rhythmic variations, intensely explore connection between you, your partner and the music, and gain the inspiration to create and maintain your own personal style on the dance floor. There are lots of people, not just the instructors, that feel passionately about a Guys only weekend and what it means overall for the improvement and evolution of swing dancing. For more encouragement to attend, I suggest reading this post.

I'll be in Nashville at a international multicultural health conference. So hopefully there's some good dancing there. (I'm trying with no avail to get registered on one of their forums...)

Btw, who's representing OWSF on the forum here?

  9.

This would be Kenny Nelson. I'm representing and running OWSF. Well, hope you have fun in Nashville.

  10.

Quick announcement: If you're anticipating that you'll need housing in Denver for OWSF, please let me know by October 16. There are two ways of doing this. First, by registering for this great National Lead Intensive weekend. Second, by emailing my housing coordinator at owsf.housing@gmail.com

    Thanks,
    Kenny

  11.

The Early Registration Deadline fast approaches.

The $95 early registration discount disappears next Tuesday, October 23. I would encourage everyone to register before the weekend price increases.

At approximately midnight Wednesday, October 24, the price increases to $105. This price lasts until October 30. At that point, I will only be accepting at the door registration for $125.

If anyone has questions, please email me at oldwestsausagefest@gmail.com. Otherwise, please go to the Old West Sausage Fest website and register.

    Thanks,
    Kenny

Anyone going? I'm thinking about it, I think Shane was interested too.

  13.

You should seriously come! It'll be awesome. Bring some follows also! Anyway, I look forward to seeing the Utah dancers that weekend.
