Hey all! I actually have an odd request. My brother is getting married August 25, and I'm the only one in my family who swings. I am absolutely DYING for a good dance, so I am wondering if there's a fellow out there who can be my partner for a night. I would like someone who can Lindy, West Coast and do most ballroom. (Waltz required) I'm not top-list good, but I can tear up the floor in my own right. does anyone think they could help me out here?

I'm usually up for something like that, but I'm afraid I've actually already got plans for that particular saturday. I'm sure there are a couple of leads here that would like to go to a wedding and dance. You might even get a few. [Emoticon not found]

I've been lindy hopping for a little more than a year, and while I'm not in the habit of holding candles to Chuy and Roach, I think you would find my Lindy and WCS serviceable. My ballroom qualifications include BYU's silver-level classes in International Standard, and gold-level American (smooth & rhythm). Some of it is rusty-- my Bolero is almost totally gone, and I never had much Quickstep to start with-- but I wouldn't be lost in a Waltz, and should certainly have enough for your average wedding, and then some.
Not that it matters, since I apparently can't come. Gaaahhh.... [Emoticon not found]
Hmm. If you don't find anybody here, I have a ballroom friend or two that I could send your way. But they'd probably be limited to Foxtrot and ballroom swing instead of Lindy [Emoticon not found]

I've been through the BYU Swing group before, though it was just for a summer semester. My brother is the first sibling to get married, so it is indeed a big enough affair to get a band that will play music to dance to. Mom's an old fashioned girl who loves dance. [Emoticon not found] The Reception is in Lindon, again on the 25th. 6-8.
So no one can help me out? One little night? I'll withdraw the WC requirement! I'd prefer a swinger, but I must have a waltz. [Emoticon not found] Sure Foehg, send someone my way!

For future reference, we may want to include a BYU Swing Kids Club Male Dance escort service and set up times each person is available to avoid last minute confusion.
Because it sort of felt like that sort of thing.
and make sure the girl gets a guy that isn't shorter than her, unless specifically requested.
But weddings are always fun.
