hey kids.
i have a bit of time on my hands now, so let me have it. what bugs you about this site/forum? what improvements could be made? what is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
african or english?
traci:african or english?
African or EUROPEAN!!?
Oh, and not enough people are on here, but that's advertising, not a technical issue.
Hey Bob. If I am not mistaken, it looks like we only have Emily's photo at the top of this page. Is it possible to rotate them as well like we do on the main site?

nope
i just want a server that's not down every five minutes. that would be a sweet feature to have...
But that would take the randomness out of it all. Don't you just sit at the edge of your chair and wonder if the page is going to load this time??? Isn't it just great??
yes, it's a game i enjoy playing. in fact, I like to type in random URLs and see if they load. then if they don't i hit enter until they do. this can take a long time sometimes.

i'll bet that nobody will register http://www.zdcgb.com for a long, long time.
A Feature!
When I try to log in, I actually have to click on the sign in box to get the cursor there. How hard is it to have the cursor just show up in the sign in box or in the message body box for posts?
Why are there pages with Redirection??? I can think of some reasons, but am curious why

I'll start checking that one now. I'll let you know when it's registered.
the ones without vowels are the best...
Ooooo. . . another idea:
A page icon so I can readily recoginze my swingkids pages from the look of their tab and the bookmark bar.

that one has a better chance of happening...
what sort of icon would you suggest?

default behavior of phpBB forums. i think it's for busier forums, so that they can make sure there is time for the insert query to complete before showing the post... that's just my guess.
and the iis 5 cookie bug. the one that breaks everything when you use a location header to redirect (instead of a meta refresh style redirect). that's prob'ly a more likely explanation. since this page is hosted on an iis 5 server.

ah, gotcha. that makes more sense. I wasn't talking about the default PHPBB redirection after writing a post, but the redirection I get when I go to say, this page http://clubs.byu.edu/swingkids/forum/search.php?search_id=newposts and view the latest posts.
Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
Back on the subject of the page icon....
How about a picture of me? [Emoticon not found]
Seriously though, we have some great dance pictures that we could shrink and use.

i tried to come up with a sweet page icon when i first made the site... problem is that it needs to be 16 x 16px.
Hm... that is pretty tiny
Buzz:Hm... that is pretty tiny
yeah. that's why i haven't made an icon yet.

I'll see if I can come up with anything cool.

i got a minute. how's it look?
bobthecow:i got a minute. how's it look?
Looks good to me
Wow Bobthemoose. Thats HAWTT!!
You were so busy editing everybody's post that you didn't notice your sig was screwed up, lol!
Buzz:You were so busy editing everybody's post that you didn't notice your sig was screwed up, lol!
no. i messed up my sig and was so busy fixing it that you saw it before i finished.
p.s. i didn't edit anyone's post...
Lol, did you put in some kind of mod to replace hawt with "t 'hword'"?
Haha! You did! That's quite funny
Careful with that one, it took me a minute to realize I wasn't guilty of profanity, just netspeak.
just netspeak?
i'm so confused. and that's not h-a-w-t.
bobthecow:just netspeak?
OMG, one isolated instance of Netspeak isn't a crime.
OMG=Oh my Goodness? [Emoticon not found]

ah! i understand now
oh, I thought it was omigoodness
SpecialK:oh, I thought it was omigoodness
Yep, common mistake
Apparently phpBB doesn't support merging threads, bobthegoat doesn't have it turned on, or I can't find it.
But I want to merge the two opening social threads. (and probably put (W06) in the title for clarity)
Yep, phpBB doesn't support it. It is possible, but takes a bit of work to hack it together.

two options... wait for the next release of phpBB (and hope it's included) or post it as a feature request. they'll both take about as long, but you have a better chance of success asking me to implement it.
lol.... ahhh... the eternal wait for updates...
I suppose another solution is to just kill doubled threads before they have a chance to grow. I mean a ocuple of Sac exchange threads, and Opening Social threads is messy and avoidable in the future
i usually lock the shorter of the two, and post a link to the other one at the end. sometimes i mock the author of the second thread. but not always.

mocking, locking or both?
