The owner of said Human slingshot was in the presidency of the BYU 1st stake and they would have the stake opening social at his ranch up one of the canyons. Of course with the whole stake there, you had to come pretty early to get a chance to use it.

Ture. I have been on said slingshot. It's pretty cool. I'm just always afraid of what would happen if it broke.

I suspect only one rope would break at a time, and as a result it would wrap you around one of the poles. Of course I'm not a mechanical engineer with experience in elastics.

    Buzz:

    Still... broken, everything

But that's not what I said. As long as your harness and points of contact are intact, I don't think a failure of one side or another would result in ground collision and broken bones. Elastic whiplash would likely cause damage, but that would be localized rather than over the whole body.

Ok, let's think about this. If one side breaks, the other side will still pull you forward. But instead of being balanced between the two poles, you will be pulled directly towards the pole that's still attached. You may not hit it at first, but I would say that you probably stand a good chance of hitting it sooner or later.

Of course, if you disagree, we can give it a shot.

i'm thinkin' you'd get wrapped around that pole like a tether ball, and then smack the pole with full force. definately not good times. or, with the stretch of the cord, you'd go around the pole you're attached to and then smack the other one. either way: no.

I don't think so. But even if it has, it should be done again.

I saw someone doing it on campus the other day. It was funny.

  4.

For those of you were at the sultan's harvest moon ball back in October I briefly wore a paper on my back that said "free hugs" on Saturday night. It was really fun. I believe I remember Miranda saying she's done it with a group of people at the Gateway.
