traci:fyi: that video isn't a real English translation. it's what they think the sounds sound like, if the sounds were English words. more like a transliteration. if that makes sense. the words are something to the gist of how great Moscow and Russia are. (my German's pretty bad these days)
[Emoticon not found] I know! I thought it was hilarious because I went to the site expecting to hear the real translation and and instead I remember thinking at the first line, "Gosh, Russian sounds like a lot like English!" Yes, another confession, but to my credit I realized the truth in the second line.
I especially thought it was funny because that was the technique I was using when Ransom taught me to sing that one song..... yes, I'm a dork. [Emoticon not found]
traci:Okay, I have a confession. I've been obsessing about this video ever since I saw it on here.
me too! i've even gotten one of their albums. [Emoticon not found] and i'll probably make a ringtone out of the dschinghis khan song. 'cause it's awesome and things.
That's amazing! I've heard that people crank it on their car stereos and watch the funny reactions on people's faces!
Ah, Charleston...
Not video, but i didn't know where to put it. Spuds likes Flight of the Concords & the Hiphoppotomus (sp?).
This one's for the choco man.
t_roach:Not video, but i didn't know where to put it.
No problem. I've got your back! [Emoticon not found]
Falty's Tar Paper Stomp Routine
Also, this gets kinda ... hypnotic...

Wow, I don't know what I would've done without the zooming in and out. Thank goodness for that!

I think they came without a routine prepared for that one. (Random comment I heard someone make once upon a time.) It was all improvised. [Emoticon not found]

yep. hot.
Get some Partner Charleston Competition goodness!
Clearly, I'm behind the times. Join the club. You may as well make it official. Everyone else is.
Oh, yeah... that... [Emoticon not found]
The funny part is that my sister mailed my parents the link, and they googled it trying to figure out what was going on, and found where somebody mentioned me in their blog.
I'm still waiting for clips of me in the check-out line at Wal-Mart or at baggage claim in SLC to leak on to youtube.
I liked this. Too bad the sound was low quality.

Ha! Reminded me of this. Know your roots! [Emoticon not found]
Ha! It reminded me of that too. [Emoticon not found]
I'm a fan of this dance and this version of this song!
This one's pretty slick, and it's got some weird stuff in it. Like 5/4 time.

i've danced to the whole of "take 5"... it's a bit weird at first, but starts to make sense after a couple of minutes.
I don't know these guys, but I like 'em.

Aaaaah!! I love to dance with Hareesh!! He's one of my favorites 'cause he's so musical. Too bad he's not dancing as much any more. [Emoticon not found]
A solo jazz clip that's cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet:

looks like Max, maybe Alice, and some dude I don't know. Max is always awesome though.
Hey, that the routine he taught up at CJ this last year! I've been looking for that clip ever since. Thanks for finding it!
Oh yeah!
Remember how Earl "Snakehips" Tucker keeps getting posted on youtube and then removed by The Man?
The entire film has is up on myspace.

Impressive find, Ransom.
Dancing with the Stars with quite the who's who of SoCal lindyhoppers/shagdancers/etc...
Minn is the only one I know anything about for sure, but it seems like I might have heard o' Jeremy and/or Laura.
As long as we're going there, don't forget to watch the whole number with Jumpin' at the Woodside dubbed over it.
And if Snakehips disappears again, gosh darn it, this time I've got him on my hard drive!

something that interests me as I watch snakehips' routine is how much this routine seems to be inspired by it. (wait for the white guy in the orange sweater). The part where david elsewhere starts melting into his knees seems really similar.
The url contained a malformed video id.
Try again, boss. [Emoticon not found]

Someone should put the original Fall Out Boy version on it.

Funny you should say that. While digging around for the clip, before I found it on myspace I found the dead link to it here, where they make the comparison, and state that Elsewhere "lists Snakehips Tucker as one of his big influences".
Also, it's a pretty cool site.
Allow me to present the Lezginka: a traditional dance of Daghestan, as performed by two guys with sweet jackets in a St. Petersburg subway.
If you ever catch me trying to do knee-spins, this is probably what it's about.

Sweet stuff, roach!
Hey, bob-- Put your tango clip up somewhere!
By popular demand (read: I mentioned it to grant):
Allow me to direct to your attention the eight video clips at the bottom of the page-- each 20-30 seconds long. The link to the bigger video at the top isn't as cool, though the related videos do have some good stuff like this one.
The second of the eight clips has a sweet solo, and is available on YouTube (in case you wanted it on... you know... YouTube...)
Until bob shows us his sweet clip of people who actually know how to dance argentine tango in real life, here's the one I mentioned to him the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGHw6B8NjqA
Foehg:sweet clip of people who actually know how to dance argentine tango in real life
here's one
i dunno, i think i have similar opinion about argentine tango on so you think you can dance (sytycd) as i have about lindy on sytycd: nice effort, but it's not quite there. then again, they have just a few days to learn a dance, not years. still, i'd rather watch people who actually know how to dance than the kids on sytycd.
hence his comment:
Foehg:Until bob shows us his sweet clip of people who actually know how to dance argentine tango in real life...
i know. i was just giving my opinion. 'cause everyone always wants to know what i think. always. [Emoticon not found]
You too? Gosh... must be because our opinions are so similar.
Artistry in motion. I luv it.
I used to watch Nathalie & Yuval and think, "Wow, they're good, but I don't like their style." After watching some of their recent stuff, and especially this, all I say is "WOW." [Emoticon not found]
