Hal & Marge! Tearing it UP! For FIVE MINUTES & TWENTY SECONDS!!!!!!11
They bust out variations I hadn't seen them do before. I'd only seen Rob & Diane Van Haaren do the little transitions to charleston, but now I know where they got it from [Emoticon not found]

I would like to label this song as "challenging". Avalon, aw yeah! It's a tough one even when it's 3 minutes long.

I highly recommend that everyone take the time (over the course of a weekend or a lazy afternoon) to read that thread I posted on yehoodi.
If you end up wondering, who's Maddog? Well, you better find out by watching this.
Okay, this thread is awfully long and it would be impossible to find out whether this has been posted yet or not, but I really like this routine:

Sorry if it's a repeat.
Actually, I watched that last week, but hadn't posted it! Good find!
Better lighting?

That takes me back to last week's talk on "what is musicality".
Delicious.
Nobody dances peabody anymore, but the hbll has some old syllabus documents you could reconstruct some of the steps from if you really wanted to.
Steven and Virginie actually dance and teach The Peabody, there's a few dancers out here in seattle that do the Peabody as well.. Its something you'll find more of the trad jazz and Lindy dancers doing more than others. Its quite cool though.. Fun to do to fast music

ULHS 2005 Charleston Finals, among other things, have recently made me happy.
Now this is dancing.

I'm pretty sure I posted this a while back, but it's worth watching frequently. It's all that and more.
If you don't know Mama Lu Parks, read here. Btw, the author of savoyballroom.com posts frequently on dancehistory.org's forum -- Terry Monaghan

Watch for Frankie Manning in a blue suit (and is that Norma Miller?) in this clip from Malcolm X that I've been trying to get a hold of for a LONG time and finally watched it.

Oh, I forgot to mentioned how stoked I was that they used Lionel Hampton and Flying Home. [Emoticon not found]

Welcome to the world of Whitey's Lindyhoppers. [Emoticon not found] That's the only vintage clip we had access to at USU in 98-99. Still inspires me.

This one's for ransom.
Sweeet!
TNMK isn't my favorite, though.
A quick review of my music collection reveals that I don't have much that would sync better. Probably the best is Green Grey (whom I, frankly, don't like that much either.)
I'm already behind enough on my homework that I'm not going to actually mash the track into the video, but if you want, you can mute the video and play the track on top. Green Grey-- Big Clouds

Okay, I have a confession. I've been obsessing about this video ever since I saw it on here. Further, I must confess that I found another with an English translation. Here it is:

I must also confess and warn you that some of it is vulgar. Further, I must confess that I laughed....... not at the vulgar part, but everything else..... of course.

me too! i've even gotten one of their albums. [Emoticon not found] and i'll probably make a ringtone out of the dschinghis khan song. 'cause it's awesome and things.
fyi: that video isn't a real English translation. it's what they think the sounds sound like, if the sounds were English words. more like a transliteration. if that makes sense. the words are something to the gist of how great Moscow and Russia are. (my German's pretty bad these days)
